Where a new hire candidate is recommended to the company by one our officers and this candidate is interviewed and appointed, we will look to pay our company officer who provided us the candidate CV a one-time payment bonus of $1000. This bonus will be paid in two instalments, $500 after the new hire officer completes first assignment and remaining $500 paid after officer completes their second assignment with Northern Marine. Dear Captains, As you may be aware all sectors of the marine industry remain depressed and earnings for ship owners have been on continual decline. Unfortunately at NMML we are directly affected by these cost pressures and as a result we have had to introduce operational changes ashore and on board. Also, in recent months the NMML managed fleet profile has changed due to a small number of conventional oil tanker vessels returning to owners direct technical management control as a cost cutting measure. Whilst the loss of the oil tankers has been compensated by the continued growth in the managed gas fleet essentially, this means that your employer, Stena Marine Management Pte, now has a surplus of officers. Whilst we have managed to absorb the costs of the surplus officers for each month during 2017 to date, we are now at the point where the costs are unsustainable. Regrettably the outcome of having surplus officers in the fleet is that a small number of positions shall be made redundant. Stena Marine Management are currently in the process of advising those affected, further notification will be circulated to the fleet when the process has been completed. Please be assured that this decision has not been taken lightly. Alternative solutions have been explored and where possible oil tanker personnel have been absorbed in to the gas fleet. Whilst this news of redundancy is hugely disappointing we are confident that our officers and crew will continue to operate to the highest professional standards of safety and customer service so that we maintain Company standards.
