Description:
Our Client is a major Oil and Gas, Subsea Engineering and Construction Contractor. They are seeking a Master on pipelay vessel to be based offshore.
Position Overview
The vessel Master has the overall authority for the Health and Safety of all personnel onboard the Vessel, the safety of the vessel and the environment. As such, he has the overriding authority and responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention and to request the Company's assistance as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
° Pleasant disposition with the capability to be authoritative when necessary.
° Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language.
° Thorough knowledge and understanding of principle discipline and peripheral subjects.
° Strong co-ordination, organisation and liaison skills with the ability to seek and gain consensus solutions to complex issues.
° Class 1 Master (Unlimited)
° DP sertificat (Unlimited)
° Valid Medical Certificate
° Training & certification in accordance with the Company Training Matrices for the vessel
° Experience in pipe lay operations
° The ability to understand interface relationship between marine and project personnel.
° Able to communicate effectively and articulately at all levels.
° Experience of maritime activities.
° An awareness of international Codes, Standards and Specifications.
° Total commitment to working safely and fully complying with the Company’s Safety Management System is required.
JOB SCOPE:
° Responsible for implementing the Company's policies and Safety Management System,
° Responsible for ensuring the vessel complies with all Flag State, Classification Society and Local Rules and Regulations which affect the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
° Responsible for the overall management, planning, organisation and control of all vessel activities.
° Responsible for ensuring that all marine personnel onboard the vessels are in pocession of the appropriate qualifications and certification for their respective rank.
° Responsible for ensuring that annual appraisals are conducted for all marine personnel.
° Responsible for ensuring that safety systems onboard, such as safety committees, inspections and permit-to-work systems are complied with.
° Responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel whilst in transit, on location and berthing and unberthing in port. During DP Operations, the Master shall ensure that company requirements and IMCA Guidance are complied with.
° Responsible for the maintenance of the Ship Security Plan and for ensuring compliance with the ISPS Code.
° The Master is the primary link between the onboard management team and the Vessel Management Group. As such, the Vessel Master should ensure that the relevant shore personnel are kept advised regarding any issues that may affect the safe and efficient operational capabilities of the vessel.
