Star Fox PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR BRITISH CEC
If interested in ERRV job follow the below procedure for applying BRITISH CEC
To make a CEC application please submit the following documents by post (cannot accept an email application, unless emergency assistance is required due to injury or death onboard a vessel):
1. Completed application form (declaration signed by the seafarer)
2. Non-UK Certificate of Competency (& if required - GMDSS and Tanker
Endorsements)
3. Proof of the seafarer's standard of English
4. Passport or discharge book
5. Two Passport photos
6. £ 76 Fee

Please ensure the signature is contained within the box in section 4.
2. A list of all countries they have agreements with for the purpose of issuing CECs can be found on our website at

Please ensure that copies of the certificate, and STCW '95 endorsement page, are both submitted. In addition, any GMDSS certificate and its respective endorsement, as well as tanker endorsements should also be included if they are required.
3. Acceptable forms of evidence of English language can be found in Annex 4 of MGN 221. The most common form of evidence is the Marlins Test and the minimum acceptable pass marks can also be found in Annex

To accompany the Marlins Test they require the employing company to interview the seafarer to
confirm his/her standard of spoken English is acceptable for the capacity he/she will be employed. The results of the interview can be relayed in a letter from the company to the MCA. Alternatively, some
Marlins centres offer the Test of Spoken English (TOSE) which is acceptable.
4. The submission of an attested copy of your passport or discharge book will be required for identification purposes, as well as providing with your personal details; it should therefore be noted, that these documents are of great importance, and will only be accepted if the copies submitted are attested by one of the methods described towards the end of this letter. Failure to do so will result in the delay of your application.
5. Please ensure each photograph has been attested by a non-family member of the seafarer as a true likeness. Please refer to page 5 of the application form.
